About Me

I’m Jorge Rubert, a figurative painter born in 1976 and based in Valencia, Spain.

My work is a personal journey through contemporary figurative painting, rooted in the timeless techniques of the Italian and Spanish Baroque and the Old Masters I have always admired. I am fascinated by that classical power, the light, composition, and presence can turn a painting into an experience, not just an image.

From that foundation, I bring in everything around me: mass culture, cinema, photography, and life in the studio with my models. Sometimes I paint from a model, sometimes from an inner vision or feeling, but I always try to transform the reference into something symbolic and deeply personal. 

 I want you to feel the reality of the person, but also the painting itself, the brushwork, the layers, the information only paint can give. The spaces around the figures, the tension in the composition, it’s all there to pull you in and take you beyond the superficial picture.

My aim has never been to explain everything. My aim is to offer a true, transcendental aesthetic experience. A painting that stays with you after you leave the room.
